Turbocharging Kuwait’s oil production

Turbocharging Kuwait’s oil production Jasem AL NOURI Kuwait---Jasem-Al-Nouri

Jasem Al Nouri, deputy managing director of Nouri Industrial Establishment, talks to The Energy Year about the company’s long-standing commitment to Kuwait’s construction and oil and gas sectors and about prospects for expansion in renewable energy ventures. Nouri Industrial Establishment is a trading company that provides oil and gas equipment and services throughout Kuwait.

Can you provide us with an overview of the company’s footprint?
Our presence goes back to 1974 and we now have a well-established footprint in Kuwait’s oil and construction sectors. We represent one of the biggest turbo machinery manufacturers in the world, Nuovo Pignone, which is now part of Baker Hughes. We have the largest market share in compressors and gas turbines in Kuwait for oil and gas applications. Most of the booster stations in Kuwait’s upstream segment are supplied by us.
However, we also supply turbo equipment for downstream units, such as the ERU [ethane recovery unit] and two new gas plants at KNPC’ Mina Al Ahmadi Refinery.

What are the characteristics that make Nouri stand out?
We are a family business that has always focused on the quality of our products and the satisfaction of our customers. After-sales services is one of the main areas that we focus on.
Our strategy is to be long-term investors. We are always there to support our clients and solve their problems. I always inform my team that the customer is always first and our main target is satisfaction. Our relationship with our clients is the key element of our success and we are proud to be one of the most reliable partners for turbo machinery equipment in the oil and construction sectors in Kuwait.

What is Nouri’s contribution to the domestic oil and gas sector?
Kuwait plans to step up its oil production from 2.2 million bpd to 3.2 million bpd before the end of the decade. As our history has shown, we are always keen to support oil and gas projects in the country by providing rotating equipment for their facilities.
We are a very dynamic company and our doors are wide open. If we cannot provide rotating equipment, we will provide other services, such as automation solutions. For that, we have strong partnerships with leading US providers of smart manufacturing and automation solutions, such as Rockwell Automation.

Are there other key sectors the company plans to focus on?
Construction remains one of our main targets because it drives demand for air conditioning, a segment in which we are deeply involved. Residential housing requires power, water desalination and water treatment. Those plants also require AC equipment and maintenance services.
In the past five years, we have been focusing on projects for the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, and we have secured engagements as a supplier or sub-supplier for their projects.
Finally, one of the segments that we are looking at with increasing interest is renewable energy. It is a field which will experience more and more competition. It will be flooded. But we believe in the quality of our services and the brands that we represent. We will come up with solutions that can really bring extra value, and find a fit in this new era.
