King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) is an industrial ecosystem looking to capture the full economic value of the energy value chain. It spans across an area of 50 square kilometres and is being built over three phases, with the majority of the first phase already complete. The park represents one of the major enablers of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, intending to diversify revenue sources, improve energy supply chains and support the energy transition and digitalisation.

Key components of the park ecosystem:

  • Location on the GCC railway line near Abqaiq in the Eastern Province
  • Industrial sectors planned in clusters on the basis of efficiency and sustainability
    • Sectors include upstream, refining and petrochemicals, power, environment, non-metallic and digital
  • Non-industrial zone to create a dynamic community
    • Key areas include residential, commercial and community development
  • Logistics zone that will include an inland dry port, bonded area, warehouses and support services, handling up to 10 million tonnes of cargo

SPARK’s vision is to become a leading industrial ecosystem with sustainability at its core. The project seeks to provide investors with the highest quality infrastructure and services that are tailor-made for companies across all segments of the energy value chain.
