Assala Gabon is a subsidiary of Assala Energy and one of Gabon’s largest oil producers. With its six onshore licences, Assala produces around 45,000 bopd. Four of its six production licences were renewed in 2019 for 25 years, and it also has three exploration licences for new development opportunities. A former asset of The Carlyle Group, Assala Energy was sold to Gabon Oil Company (GOC) in 2024 and represents GOC’s first major oil project.

Assala is the local name in Gabon for forest elephants, a symbol of the country and the company. Taking inspiration from these elephants, the company seeks to be flexible, innovative and creative, adapting to the changing energy landscape.

Assala Gabon has the following six onshore production operations:

  • Koula/Damier
  • Toucan II
  • Robin
  • Rabi Kounga II
  • Bende M’Bassou Totou II
  • Gamba-Ivinga

Four of the six producing areas are located within the company’s three exploration operations:

  • Ozigo II
  • Nziembou II
  • Mutamba-Iroru II

Assala also operates an onshore pipeline network and an export terminal in Gamba.
