Evonik has launched a dedicated product line for extending the use of thermoplastic piping systems to higher operating pressures and larger diameters to replace metallic piping systems. The company uses a product called Polymer12 specifically designed for this application. It has high chemical resistance to hydrocarbon products. The technology was developed in Mexico and is unique worldwide.
In Mexico, Evonik has been involved in key petrochemicals endeavours such as the Coatzacoalcos River project, a one-kilometre pipeline that transports carbon dioxide to a urea plant. The company supplied the polymer to produce the liner that protects this pipe.
The company has established the Evonik Applied Technology Center, a research organisation dedicated to developing innovative plastics and derivatives for sectors such as agriculture, civil construction, home care, personal care, pharmaceuticals, animal nutrition and industrial coatings, among others.
