National Bank of Kuwait

National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) is a Kuwaiti multinational financial institution and the country’s first bank by assets, customer deposits and loans. The bank offers corporate and retail banking and wealth management services in 13 countries and is listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange with the ticker NBK.

NBK structures its operations under four main business segments:

• Corporate banking
• Consumer banking
• NBK Wealth
• Islamic banking, through subsidiary Boubyan Bank

In addition, the bank has an International Banking Group (IBG) division that supports corporate and commercial real estate transactions for clients across NBK’s network, and supports the bank’s diversification efforts from offices in Singapore and London, among other locations.

To support its global operations, NBK has a dedicated treasury division that manages the bank’s liquidity, funding costs and financial risk, and structures hedging and investment tools for clients and the bank’s own use.

NBK reported USD 130.9 billion in assets in 2024 and loans, advances and Islamic financing for a total of USD 76.9 billion. Net operating income for the year reached USD 4.06 billion.

The bank’s sustainable asset portfolio was worth USD 4.97 billion at the end of 2024, of which approximately two-thirds was allocated to green projects, including renewable power generation, low-emission infrastructure and sustainable mobility. In 2024, NBK issued a USD 500-million green bond – Kuwait’s first – and has since financed 18 renewable energy generation projects in the Middle East, Europe and Asia-Pacific, for a total capacity of 3.4 GW.
