Olayan Descon Engineering and Industrial Services Company is a joint venture between Olayan Saudi Holding Company and Descon Engineering. The company is an all-inclusive provider of engineering, manufacturing and industrial solutions for the energy sector. Holding Saudi Aramco’s approval as manufacturers of static and process equipment, Olayan Descon is a comprehensive engineering contractor focusing particularly on turnarounds, shutdowns and asset maintenance. Their extensive expertise and capabilities enable them to execute both greenfield and brownfield EPC projects.

Abdulhadi Fahad Al-Khaldi, president of Olayan Descon Engineering and Industrial Services Company, explained the company’s expansion plans when he spoke to The Energy Year: “The first step is to grow our manufacturing capabilities and volume with a focus on producing static equipment and first exporting to the GCC markets and then to the rest of the world. Our facilities are capable of exporting pressure vessels, reactors, heat exchangers and skids.”

Strategic localisation: in-kingdom manufacturing of specialised vapour recovery units (VRUs)

• Through strategic cooperation with international technology providers, Olayan Descon is localising the manufacturing of this technology.
• VRUs have been engineered for the purpose of eliminating and reclaiming surplus or undesirable vapours found in crude oil or distillate storage tanks.
• These systems enable operators to meet current emission standards while also salvaging valuable hydrocarbon gases.
• The MENA region exhibits substantial demand for VRUs, and local production is poised to aid downstream operators in achieving heightened environmental benchmarks.
