Empresa Nacional Petróleos de Moçambique (Petromoc) is a Mozambican company that engages in the import, storage, refinement, distribution and commercialisation of oil, oil derivatives, lubricants, biofuels and natural gas. 

It is owned by the Mozambican Government (60%), Instituto de Gestão das Participações do Estado (20%), a public entity that manages the government’s portfolio of corporate participations, and by company management and employees (20%).

The company divides its activities into three primary business lines:

  • Fuel storage and distribution
  • Lubricants 
  • Logistics

Petromoc has a network of 19 depots and terminals with total storage capacity of approximately 500,000 cubic metres and is able to handle a wide range of products including gas oil, jet fuel and LPG. This includes 215,000 cubic metres of storage in Beira port, owned through subsidiaries Petrobeira and Inpetro.  

Distribution activities include a wholesale business that serves large customers from the mining, agriculture and transportation sectors, both in Mozambique and in neighbouring countries. Through subsidiaries and partnerships, the company supplies aviation fuel to regional airports.

In addition, the company operates a retail network of more than 200 petrol stations in Mozambique that serve conventional and alternative fuels to the public at large. The company’s share of Mozambique’s retail distribution market is approximately 25%. 

Lubricant offerings include a range of conventional and synthetic products for motors, transmission systems, hydraulic systems, turbines and various industrial applications.
