Maximum steam temperature achieved by Solar Invictus: 700 degrees Celsius

ZED Solar is a renewable energy company that manufactures Heliostat Concentrator Photovoltaic (HCPV) solar power generator units. The company was founded in 2014 in Lahore, Pakistan.

HCPV is a technology that uses parabolic mirrors to focus highly concentrated sunlight on a small area of solar cells in order to convert it to power. Systems that use this technology have a higher efficiency than other photovoltaic generators, which means they generate more electricity with smaller arrays and thus potentially reduce land, material and waste costs.

ZED’s signature product is the Solar Invictus sun dish, which combines the high efficiencies associated with HCPV with a design that is economical to produce and install. It can be deployed in a range of environments for a number of applications besides power generation:

  • EOR
  • Integrated Solar Steam Cycle
  • Desalination
  • Process steam
  • Stirling engines

In an EOR scenario, the system can be fed with oilfield water, so it can be integrated directly into existing infrastructure, and it can produce steam that meets the temperature and pressure specifications of the generators used in the oil industry.

Invictus is designed to withstand harsh oilfield conditions, such as sandstorms, high salinity, and steep temperature differentials. ZED also understands that some cases may require a high degree of localization, and the company has established its network of suppliers keeping in mind the challenges of installing systems in remote locations.
