40 new wells planned to boost Iraq’s Majnoon

Iraq’s Ministry of Oil announced a plan on Thursday to increase oil production by 210,000 bopd by drilling 40 new wells in the Majnoon field near Basra.

The operator, government-owned Basra Oil Company, has signed a deal with Iraq Drilling Company, also a state entity, for the drilling programme, according to the ministry.

The field currently produces 240,000 bopd.
