Aker Solutions bags Rosebank FPSO contract

DUBAI, January 9, 2023 – Aker Solutions and partner Drydocks World-Dubai have been awarded EPC works to upgrade Altera Infrastructure’s Petrojarl Knarr FPSO, the Norwegian engineering entity announced on Monday.

The overhaul includes upgrading the vessel’s hull, marine systems and topsides to prepare the asset for 25 years of service without drydocking.

Cost of the contract is estimated to be between USD 250 million and USD 399 million.

Detailed design of the project is to be carried out by Aker Solutions in collaboration with Norwegian engineering subsidiaries Citec Norway, ABB Norway and OneSubsea Processing.

EPC works will be carried out at Drydocks World-Dubai’s facilities in Dubai and are expected to begin in H1 2023 and be completed by the end of 2025.

The FPSO was moved to Aker Solutions’ yard in Stord, Norway, in August 2022 and will be towed to Dubai in H2 2023.

Upon completion, the FPSO is to be redeployed at Equinor’s Rosebank field in the UK.

The play is located around 130 kilometres west of the Shetland Islands and holds an estimated 300 million barrels of recoverable reserves. Equinor has operated the field since 2019.
