ALP wins Kaombo contract

Interoil and Saipem awarded a tow-assist contract to ALP to transport the Kaombo Norte FPSO to Angola from Southeast Asia, international media reported on Friday.

The company will use two 300-tonne capacity bollard-pull ALP Future-class vessels for the main towing work. Once offshore Angola, three additional vessels will help to keep the FPSO stationary during connection to its mooring lines. Two of the vessels will also support the riser pull-in operation.

“Acting as single service provider from yard to hook-up and installation, ALP is providing a tailor-made solution to our customer with optimum vessel scheduling flexibility,” Paul Mulder, the CEO of ALP, said in a statement.

The first of the two Kaombo FPSOs is now expected to come on line in March or April 2018, with the second following six months later.
