Quake shuts down PNG operations
Papua New Guinea Communication cut-offs in the worst-hit areas have meant that no reports of the human toll of the disaster have yet been released, Reuters reported.
“It’s a very serious all across the Southern Highlands and also all over the western highlands. People are definitely very frightened,” an International Red Cross representative told the agency.
Amid continuing aftershocks, Oil Search and ExxonMobil have paused operations in the country, with ExxonMobil telling journalists that it had shut down the Hides gas conditioning plant and was evacuating non-essential personnel, the report added.
