Angola’s CABSHIP, OCTOMAR to set up diving and marine JV

CABINDA, June 12, 2023 – Angola’s CABSHIP and OCTOMAR have signed an MoU on establishing a diving and marine support company in the Cabinda Special Economic Zone.

In a press release last week, CABSHIP said the company would be a 50-50 joint venture and 100% Angolan, and is poised to make strategic use of the future Caio maritime terminal. Both companies have a strong focus on serving Angola’s dynamic oil and gas industry.

CABSHIP is an Angolan petroleum materials management and logistics player that has been present in the market since 2009 and offers turnkey solutions to its clients and operates over 50 warehouses for oil and gas materials and equipment. ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certified, it is also a member of the Global Logistics Network (GLN) and has a reach of 125 countries.

“CABSHIP and OCTOMAR are companies with extensive experience in oil and gas and are ready to capitalise on the new wave of opportunities in the Angolan offshore industry and perhaps in neighboring countries,” João Filipe, CEO of CABSHIP, said.

OCTOMAR, established in 1997, provides maritime and underwater services. These include support services to FPSOs, inspection, subsea prospecting services, repair and maintenance, and support for exploration, installation and production of oil assets. It also provides support vessels such as AHTs, PSVs, SPVs or crewboats to offshore oil and gas operations.

“We have continued to operate in Cabinda, but from our base in Luanda, and we thought we should change this situation by finding a solid partner with the same vision about local content, like CABSHIP, to do so. With the creation of the Cabinda Special Economic Zone, we finally decided to move forward, and this is the first step towards what we hope will be a successful local company with many reasons for pride for all,” Luís Lago de Carvalho, executive board member of OCTOMAR, said.
