Australia wraps up 2017 offshore awards

Australia has awarded seven permits won in two offshore rounds in 2017, the country’s Department of Industry, Innovation and Science announced on Wednesday.

Shell received licences AC/P64, AC/P65 and WA-534-P and BP received licence WA-535-P, the press release added. Inpex signed a deal for permit WA-533-P, licence VIC/P72 went to Cooper Energy and Carnarvon bagged permit AC/P63.

“The new exploration permits are located in Commonwealth waters offshore Western Australia, Victoria and the Territory of Ashmore and Cartier Islands,” the Australian government said.

Five other areas received bids but no awards were made, while 16 permits received no bids.
