Angola’s Azule Energy commissions landmark New Gas Consortium plant
SOYO, November 28, 2025 – Eni and BP, through their joint venture Azule Energy, have commissioned the New Gas Consortium (NGC) gas treatment plant in Soyo, Angola, the partners said on Thursday.
The facility, Angola’s first non-associated gas development, has a processing capacity of 11.3 mcm (400 mcf) of gas per day and 20,000 boepd of condensate. Gas from the Quiluma and Maboqueiro offshore fields is processed for export and domestic use via the Angola LNG plant.
Azule partners in the development with Sonangol P&P, Chevron affiliate CABGOC and TotalEnergies.
Commissioning began in earlier this month, just 24 months after the groundbreaking and six months ahead of schedule. Azule Energy operates the consortium with a 37.4% stake, in partnership with Cabinda Gulf Oil Company, Sonangol E&P, TotalEnergies and ANPG.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by President João Gonçalves Lourenço; Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas Diamantino Azevedo; and Chairman of the Board of the National Oil, Gas and Biofuels Agency (ANPG) Paulino Jeronimo.
“Non-associated gas deposits guarantee aditional production than relying solely on the gas that is associated with oil,” President João Lourenço said.
“The benefits are significant, as gas is in great demand in the international market, is less polluting than diesel and offers a competitive price. We believe that other developments like this will come along, which is promising for the Angolan people and the national economy.”

“Today, Angola takes a decisive step toward establishing itself as a strategic force in the global natural gas market,” CEO Adriano Mongini said.
“Azule Energy is proud to be the company leading this path with the NGC development completion and dedicated gas exploration activity.”
