Baker Hughes confirms “major” contract with Brazil’s Petrobras

Baker Hughes has won a “major” multi-year well construction services contract with Brazil’s Petrobras at the Buzios oilfield, the energy technology giant announced on Wednesday.
The Buzios field is Brazil’s largest oilfield and the world’s largest ultra-deepwater project.

Covering three rigs, the contract will involve drilling services, drill bits, wireline, cementing, wellbore clean up, fishing, remedial tools, fluids, services and geosciences. It is expected to commence in the first half of 2025.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

“Baker Hughes is proud to contribute to this significant project and expand our long-standing relationship with Petrobras, establishing ourselves as a major provider of integrated solutions in Brazil,” said Maria Claudia Borras, the company’s executive vice-president for oilfield services and equipment.

The Buzios field came on line in 2018. It is situated180 kilometres offshore in water depths that reach more than 2,000 metres. Its recoverable resources are estimated at 11.3 billion boe.
