BP's Azeri Central East platform in Azerbaijan

BP begins production at new Azerbaijan platform

BAKU, April 18, 2024 – BP has started oil production at the new Azeri Central East (ACE) platform in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea, the UK supermajor announced on Tuesday.

ACE is the seventh oil platform on the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field in the Caspian Sea, which first began production in 1997 and has since produced over 4.3 billion barrels of oil. BP has a 30.37% interest in the field.

The ACE platform and related facilities are designed to process up to 100,000 bopd and the project is expected to produce up to 300 million barrels over its lifetime. Oil will be exported via a new pipeline to BP’s Sangachal oil and gas terminal, located onshore 55 kilometres south of Baku.

ACE production is expected to increase through 2024 to around 24,000 bopd as two more planned wells are drilled, completed and brought online.
