BPTT sees protest at its offices

Despite policy and project advances, social unrest continues in Trinidad and Tobago’s hydrocarbons market. Protests at BPTT’s offices began on June 22, as a result of 22 employees being fired.

Employee dissatisfaction is related local content, an issue at the centre of the Angelin project. Construction works associated with the endeavor are being carried out in Mexico rather than Trinidad and Tobago.

BPTT’s Angelin development was recently sanctioned. The local subsidiary of the super-major has awarded McDermott a contract for FEED development and that company has in turn awarded PJ Valves and PJ Piping a contract for the supply and manufacture of 500 specialty ball, gate and double block and bleed valves, as well as compact flanges.
