The Norwegian company’s DHBSM-1H well is seeing stabilised flows of 5,000-6,000 bopd.
The well was drilled with the Borr Norve jackup rig to a depth of 5,960 metres into Gamba sandstone reservoir.
It has an estimated 22 million barrels of oil in place, of which it is expected to recover 6.6 million barrels.
The company plans an initial drilling programme of up to six horizontal production wells in the Hibiscus/Ruche development, all targeting the Gamba reservoir.
BW Energy is an oil and gas E&P player that holds majority interests in three hydrocarbons licences in Gabon, Brazil and Namibia.
In late February, Upstream Online reported that the company plans a drilling campaign at its Kudu discovery offshore Namibia and will open a data room later this year to seek new partners in the project.
