Chevron delivers first oil from new platform off Angola
LUANDA, December 30, 2025 – Chevron has begun production from its South N’dola platform offshore Angola, marking a key milestone in its efforts to optimise output from the country’s resources, the company said on Monday.
The platform achieved first oil in December, just over two years after construction began. Located in prolific offshore Block 0, South N’dola contributes to the block’s role in supplying 12% of Angola’s daily energy output. The development ties back to the nearby Mafumeira facility, eliminating the need for standalone processing infrastructure.
“Underpinned by the prolific Block 0, safely achieving first oil at South N’dola is the latest example of Chevron’s efforts to maximise production from our existing offshore assets in Angola,” Chevron Offshore Business president Brent Gros said.
Chevron has operated in Angola for more than 70 years through its subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil. It manages Block 0 and deepwater Block 14 and plays a significant role in the local economy. The construction of South N’dola created more than 800 jobs and the platform will supply hydrocarbons to domestic plants.
Chevron operates upstream and downstream assets across multiple continents. In Angola, the company is a key player in offshore oil and gas production and co-operates with the Angolan government to develop energy infrastructure and enhance local content.
