Chevron drills well in Kurdistan Region
ERBIL, September 21, 2017 – Chevron has drilled its first exploration well in two years in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, international media reported on Wednesday.
The well was drilled in Chevron’s 80%-held Sarta block, according to a report from Reuters. This marked the first such activity by the company in the region since H2 2015.
“Chevron continues its exploration activities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq,” a Chevron spokeswoman told the agency.
The US major also holds an 80% stake in the Kurdistan Region’s Qara Dagh block. A previously held interest in the Rovi block was relinquished in 2015.
