Chevron’s Sanha Lean Gas Connection achieves first gas
LUANDA, December 27, 2024 – The Sanha Lean Gas Connection project has achieved first gas, a milestone in Angola’s strategy to diversify its economy beyond its oil sector.
The project is led by CABGOC, Chevron’s Angolan subsidiary. The gas comes from Chevron-operated offshore Block 0. The Sanha project will supply Block 0’s gas to the Angola LNG plant and Soyo power plants.
In its first stage, the project will deliver 2.26 mcm (80 mcf) of gas per day to the Angola LNG plant, while a second stage will add an additional 6.22 mcm (220 mcf) per day. The project will bring the plant’s total feedstock to 17 mcm (600 mcf) per day.
The project received its initial FID in 2021 and includes a new platform that is integrated with the existing Sanha Condensate complex and the Congo River Crossing Pipeline.
