CNOOC starts production at Weizhou


HONG KONG, September 12, 2016 – Production has started at the Weizhou 6-9/6-10 offshore project, China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) announced today.


The oilfield is located in the Beibu Gulf, in the South China Sea, at an average water depth of about 35 m. The project maximised the use of existing facilities at Weizhou 6-9 and 6-10 and saw the construction and installation of a new wellhead platform.

Oil is currently producing at a rate of 850 bpd from one producing well, and the project is expected to reach its designed peak production of 3,800 bpd in 2018. The project is wholly-owned by CNOOC.
