Côte d’Ivoire
The government of Côte d’Ivoire plans to build 12 solar plants by 2030 with a combined capacity of 678 MW, the country’s energy minister announced on Wednesday.

A week after the country’s first solar plant came on line, Minister of Mines, Oil and Energy Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly was cited in a report by PV Magazine as saying a total of 678 MW of solar capacity is to be installed by 2030 and 1,686 MW by 2040.

The report highlighted projects in the cities of Ferkessédougou and Bondoukou, with capacities of 52 MWp and 50 MWp, respectively, as scheduled to come on line next year, along with three additional plants slated for completion in 2026.

Côte d’Ivoire’s inaugural solar installation, a 37.5-MW plant in the northern town of Boundiali, launched operations last week.
