Das Island tank contract awarded

Multinational engineering, procurement and construction company Chicago Bridge & Iron (CB&I) has been awarded a $90-million contract for the overhaul of five gas storage tanks on Das Island by Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company.

Das Island is the main offshore oil and gas storage and processing base for Abu Dhabi’s hydrocarbons operations. Crude oil and gas is transferred from Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company’s offshore fields Umm Shaif and Lower Zakum through a network of pipelines to processing facilities at Das Island, where is either stored or exported to international markets.

Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company handles the gas processing. Of the 56.6 mcm (2 bcf) of gas currently processed at the facilities, 28.3 mcm (2 bcf) is transported onshore via pipeline for inclusion into the domestic gas network.
