DNO makes record-breaking oil and gas find in Norway

Norway

STAVANGER, July 11, 2023 – DNO has made the largest hydrocarbons find in the last decade in Norway at the offshore Carmen prospect, the Norwegian oil and gas operator announced on Monday.

Preliminary evaluation, including cores and fluids samples, suggests the play holds between 120 million and 230 million boe of recoverable reserves.

The Carmen prospect is located in the PEL 1148 concession in Norway’s North Sea and was drilled by the Deepsea Yantai semi-submersible rig.

The find is the sixth discovery in the Troll-Gjøa region since 2021, which includes the Røver Nord, Kveikje, Ofelia, Røver Sør and Heisenberg finds, and is located near existing infrastructure.

“Norway is the gift that keeps on giving,” said Bijan Mossavar-Rahmani, executive chairman of DNO.

“Carmen proves there are important discoveries still to be made and Norway’s oldest oil company, DNO, will be part of this next chapter of the country’s oil and gas story.”

DNO farmed into the PEL 1148 block in 2022 taking on a 30% stake. Its partners include operator Wellesley Petroleum with a 50% stake and Equinor and Aker BP holding 10% stakes each.
