Dominion Resources gets OK for US liquefaction plant

NEW DELHI, October 8, 2014 – Last week, Dominion Resources received final approval from US regulators to build a $3.8-billion natural gas liquefaction plant, the first on the east coast, which will ship LNG to India and Japan.

Indian state-owned gas utility GAIL India has a 40-percent stake in the project’s output capacity of 5.75 million tonnes per year.

The exports from Cove Point on the Chesapeake Bay have been approved by the US Energy Department to both free trade and non-free trade agreement countries, a positive move for India, which could not benefit from US LNG exports without that exemption.
