Drone attacks hit key refineries in Kuwait
KUWAIT CITY, March 19, 2026 – Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) has said emergency response teams extinguished fires in operational units at the Mina Al Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah refineries after drone attacks targeted both facilities earlier on Thursday.
In a social media post, KPC said the incidents caused no injuries and were handled in full compliance with approved safety and emergency response standards. The company added that all necessary measures remain in place to maintain safe and stable operations across its facilities.
Alongside the Al Zour Refinery, the 454,000-bpd Mina Al Ahmadi and 346,000-bpd Mina Abdullah are two of Kuwait’s key downstream assets.
KPC oversees Kuwait’s hydrocarbons value chain through subsidiaries active in refining, petrochemicals, international marketing and LNG imports. In Kuwait’s downstream segment, its operations include refining at Mina Al Ahmadi, Mina Abdullah and Al Zour, as well as LNG import infrastructure and petrochemicals projects that support domestic supply and exports.
