Egypt launches app to locate natural gas stations

An app that lets drivers locate the nearest natural gas filling station has been launched by Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources.

In  a statement reported by local media on Monday, Minister Tarek El Molla said the app, called MOP Stations, would direct users to natural gas car supply stations and conversion centres. It will also inform them about services.

The move is part of government efforts to encourage the owners of cars, taxis and minibuses to convert their vehicles to run on natural gas. A presidential initiative to promote the use of natural gas in vehicles was launched last July.

The app remains in an experimental phase.
