Eni and Pemex sign MOU

In a display of further international interest in Mexico’s hydrocarbons sector, Italy’s Eni signed a memorandum of understanding with Pemex on Thursday to initiate the companies’ co-operation in areas including education and training, petrochemicals, refining and natural gas exploration and production.

The agreement comes in the wake of a $750-million offshore engineering and construction contract to Eni subsidiary Saipem, awarded by Pemex on October 2, 2014. The strong ties between the Italian and Mexican companies come at an important time, leading up to Mexico’s Round 1 Tenders, which are currently being evaluated and expected to be completed by October 2015.
