Eni, Total in Cyprus find: reports
Cyprus
NICOSIA, February 5, 2018 – Eni and Total have struck gas in the Calypso-1 well in Block 6 offshore Cyprus, local and international media reported over the weekend.
Despite speculative estimates about the size of the discovery, reported at 170 bcm-227 bcm (6 tcf-8 tcf) by one source cited by the UAE’s The National, authorities have said its status is still unconfirmed.
“The findings are encouraging. A reserve has been located but the morphology of the particular target is complicated so we need more time [to evaluate the discovery],” Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, Cyprus’ minister of energy, commerce, industry and tourism was quoted as saying by Chinese news agency Xinhua.
