Equinor brings new platform on line in Brazil

BRASILIA, October 14, 2022 – Equinor has produced first oil from its new Peregrino C platform offshore Brazil, the Norwegian NOC announced on Thursday.

The platform completes the USD 3-billion second phase of the project, which consists of drilling facilities and living quarters linked to the existing Peregrino FPSO and a new pipeline for import of gas for power generation at the asset.

The development increases the field’s maximum production capacity to 110,000 bopd and adds 250 million-300 million barrels of oil to the project.

The second phase was expected to be completed in 2020 but was delayed due to challenges caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Peregrino field is located in the Campos Basin and is the largest field operated by Equinor outside of Norway.

The Norwegian NOC operates the field with a 60% share along with its partner Sinochem with the remaining shares.
