Extensive damage to QatarEnergy facilities from missile strikes
DOHA, March 19, 2026 – Iranian missile attacks targeting Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City and several LNG facilities have caused “extensive damage,” QatarEnergy stated on social media.
Ras Laffan Industrial City, located about 80 kilometres northeast of Doha, was struck on Wednesday evening, resulting in extensive fires and damage to Pearl GTL, a Shell-operated facility that processes up to 45.3 mcm (1.6 bcf) per day of gas from offshore wells into products such as gasoil, kerosene and naphtha.
The missile strike was followed by further attacks on Thursday morning targeting several Qatari LNG facilities, causing “sizeable fires and extensive further damage.” QatarEnergy did not identify the specific facilities affected.
QatarEnergy stated that emergency response teams had been deployed at both sites and that no casualties had been reported.
Pearl GTL is wholly owned by Shell and operated under a development and production-sharing contract with Qatar.
