ExxonMobil in Ghana exploration deal
ACCRA, January 18, 2018 – ExxonMobil has struck a deal to explore the Deepwater Cape Three Point offshore Ghana, international media reported on Thursday.
It is the first deal to be signed since a September 2017 arbitration ruling delineated the maritime border between Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire, Reuters reported.
Once the agreement is approved by the Ghanaian parliament, ExxonMobil will hold an 80% operating stake in the licence, alongside the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (15%) and a yet-to-be-determined local partner owning the remaining 5%, in accordance with Ghana’s laws.
