First phase of Barra do Dande terminal inaugurated in Angola
LUANDA, February 11, 2025 – Angolan President João Lourenço on Monday inaugurated the first phase of the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal in Caxito, Bengo Province.
The first phase of the Barra do Dande terminal has 16 storage tanks with a capacity comprising 580,000 cubic metres for petrol, diesel and cooking gas. It also features a jetty of 1,700 metres. The second phase will increase the terminal’s capacity to 728,500 cubic metres.
The terminal is situated in Dande Municipality in Bengo Province and represents a USD 642-million investment that is meant to strengthen Angola’s logistics capacity. The facility will be used to ensure the fuel supply of the country while also enabling fuel exports.
Angola’s president said that the terminal is “just the beginning” of Angola’s shift towards fuel self-sufficiency. The terminal is one of the main projects enabling Angola’s self-sufficiency, with the other being the Lobito Refinery, which is expected to be complete by 2027.
