Fujairah commences jetty operations

According to port general manager Mousa Murad, the very large crude carrier BW Peony unloaded around 2 million barrels of Iraqi crude on Tuesday. The Shell cargo was loaded at Basra and stored at Fujairah-based storage tanks leased by the the Anglo-Dutch major.
The Fujairah jetty is the only one of its kind capable of accommodating very large crude carriers with direct access to the Gulf of Oman and onwards to Arabia Sea and Indian Ocean. The Port of Fujairah aims to add another jetty and increase crude storage capacity from some 63 million to about 88 million barrels within the next four years.
