Gazprom, Iranian gas company sign MoU

Iran

TEHRAN, December 13, 2016 – The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) and Gazprom Neft signed an MoU on co-operation on Tuesday morning. The agreement follows a January 2016 initiative between the two companies that established working groups to examine mutual opportunities in gas trade, R&D, production and joint projects.

The deal was signed between NIGC managing director Hamid Reza Araghi and deputy managing director of Gazprom Alexander Medvedev.

Speaking on Tuesday, Medvedev said Gazprom was interested in participating in several Iranian projects, including LNG production and gas pipelines such as a planned project linking Iran and India. The projects fall under the scope of NIGC.

A separate deal was signed between the Russian company and the National Iranian Oil Company and Iranian Central Oil Fields Company on Tuesday. The deal will see Gazprom Neft undertake studies of two Iranian oilfields.
