Gazprom Neft, Rosneft strike pay in Siberia

Messoyakhaneftegaz, a JV between Gazprom Neft and Rosneft, has encountered crude oil in the West Messoyakha block in Siberia, international media reported on Friday.

In-place reserves at the new reservoir, discovered in a well earlier this year, are estimated at 620 million barrels, Upstream Online reported. The find increases the total estimated recoverable reserves at the block to more than 1.1 billion barrels of crude and 74 bcm (2.61 tcf) of gas.

The project is expected to come on stream after the 2020 projected start of the neighbouring East Messoyakha block, the report added.
