Gazprom to sign Bolivia agreements
Bolivia LA PAZ, May 29, 2017 – Bolivia is hoping to sign several gas exploration agreements with Russia’s giant Gazprom on the sidelines of the 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum this week, regional media reported over the weekend.
“In the course of this forum, we plan to sign another three agreements on exploration of the promising blocks of San Telmo Sur, San Telmo Norte and Astillero deposits,” Russia’s Tass agency reported Bolivian Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy Luis Sánchez as saying.
Last year, Gazprom International and Bolivia’s YPFB signed a preliminary agreement for three other blocks, Madidi, Vitiaqua and La Ceiba. A follow-up agreement to explore the latter two is expected to be signed later this year, Tass added.
Bolivia is eager to have Gazprom as an operator in the country as this would be a guarantee for the Russian company’s investments there, the minister told Prensa Latina in seperate comments.
