GE bags Angola order

LUANDA, May 3, 2017 – GE announced on May 2 that Angola’s AE Energia had ordered seven TM2500 mobile aeroderivative gas turbine generator sets for state-owned power production company Prodel.

The units will be installed in the provinces of Namibe, Huila and Cuando Cubango, adding 200 MW of power generation capacity. The addition will bring the country’s total capacity to 1 GW, the government’s goal by end-2018.

The deal includes the generating equipment, installation, commissioning, spares and electrical balance of plant as well as service agreements for up to nine sets and performance-monitoring software.

Previously, in April 2016, GE supplied six trailer-mounted TM2500+ mobile gas turbine packages to Angola to supply 600,000 homes. The equipment was deployed by GE’s EPC partner El Sewedy Power at power plants in Cazenga and Camama. The plants, known as power plants on wheels, can be installed in two weeks, run on liquid or gas fuel and can reach full power in 10 minutes.
