Google signs offshore wind PPA in Taiwan
Taiwan TAIPEI, April 24, 2025 – Google has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for the supply of electricity from the Fengmiao I offshore wind farm in Taiwan, the companies announced on Wednesday.
Fengmiao I is being developed by CIP’s exclusive offshore wind development partner, Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), approximately 35 kilometres offshore Taichung City. The project reached financial close in March 2025, and manufacturing and installation activities have begun. Upon completion in 2027, the farm will have 33 wind turbines with a total capacity of approximately 500 MW.
“This is an important milestone for Fengmiao I and the future of the energy transition in Taiwan. Our continued momentum to advance projects forward supports Taiwan’s ambitious renewable energy goals and carbon reduction targets and allows for further build out of the nation’s booming industry,” said Thomas Correll, acting CEO of COP Taiwan.
The deal is Google’s first in Taiwan and Asia Pacific, and the second between Google and CIP,. The companies signed a 250-MW PPA linked to the Zeevonk offshore wind farm in the Netherlands in December 2024.
