Guyana to hold exploration round in 2020

GEORGETOWN, February 12, 2019 – Guyana is planning to hold a competitive auction for exploration licences in Q1 2020, Department of Energy Director Mark Bynoe announced at a press conference on Monday.
The department aims to carry out a legal review of current oil and gas legislation in February to identify gaps and make necessary adjustments before signing new contracts with operators, local newspaper Demerara Waves reported.
Bynoe also said the department will be seeking a company to gather seismic data ahead of the bidding round, with the hopes of making acreage more attractive.
