Guyanese leader calls for ‘immediate’ monetising of gas

Guyanese President Irfaan Ali has called for the “immediate” development and monetisation of the country’s natural gas deposits, in comments made at the Guyana Energy Conference & Supply Chain Expo 2024 on Monday.

A report from Bloomberg said the president outlined his goal of making the country a regional energy powerhouse, moving beyond oil production to embrace gas-to-energy.

He also highlighted the “enormous logistics and transport potential that will arise from the country’s gas-to-energy project when completed,” according to a media statement from the Office of the President.

The Guyana Energy Conference & Supply Chain Expo 2024 runs from February 19-22. The conference is being held under the theme of “Fuelling Transformation and Modernisation.”
