KUFPEC tenders for $1.5-billion Anambas gas project in Indonesia

JAKARTA, September 11, 2025 – Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC) has launched the tender for the main EPCI contract for its USD 1.54-billion Anambas gas and condensate development offshore Indonesia, Upstream Online reported on Thursday.

The EPCI scope includes construction of the Anambas wellhead platform, subsea pipeline installation and brownfield modifications to existing infrastructure, with a 36-month contract duration.

Indonesia’s upstream regulator SKK Migas approved the project’s development plan in Q2 2025 and is encouraging KUFPEC to bring the field on line by Q4 2027. KUFPEC’s phased plans, however, point to first gas in 2028 at a projected rate of 1.56 mcm (55 mcf) per day.

Anambas is estimated to hold 41.6 million boe. In 2022, the Anambas-2X well resulted in KUFPEC’s first operated offshore discovery, with drill stem tests across multiple formations yielding an initial combined flow of 1.13 mcm (40 mcf) per day of gas and 1,240 bpd of condensate.

When production begins, Anambas gas will be delivered to the West Natuna Transportation System, with volumes allocated for domestic use and exports to Singapore.

KUFPEC is a subsidiary of KPC focused on upstream oil and gas exploration and production outside Kuwait. It holds interests in onshore and offshore assets in the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe. In Indonesia, the company has offshore oil and gas and condensate projects in Anambas and Natuna Sea Block A.
