Kvaerner and KBR win Johan Sverdrup contract

Kvaerner is in charge of the utility module construction, with subcontractors in Poland fabricating the unit and completion to be finished in Norway.
KBR will provide engineering and procurement services for the utility module. The accommodation module will be built at Norwegian company Apply Leirvik’s yards in Stord, Norway and Emtunga, Sweden. The 19,000-tonne topsides will be assembled at Kvaerner’s Stord facilities. Both platforms are expected to be finished by the first quarter of 2019.
Commissioning assistance and offshore hookup services for the platform are an option included in the contract.
The Johan Sverdrup project is slated for production startup by the end of 2019 and will account for 25 percent of Norway’s oil and gas production.
