Lloyd’s in new Ghana JV with GOSCO

LONDON, April 4, 2017 – Engineering services provider Lloyd’s Register on Monday entered into agreement with Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Operating Services Company (GOSCO) on creating a joint venture.

The newly created entity, Lloyd’s Register Wells Ghana, will concentrate on offshore well project management, including engineering and site survey services. In addition, the company will also offer geotechnical and rig inspection services.

“We have joined forces with GOSCO to set up this joint venture as a response to growing industry interest in Ghana’s oil and gas potential along with the requirement to build capability in the Ghanaian E&P sector,” Lloyd’s Register ‘s vice-president for the wells business unit, Matt Rothnie, said of the move.

Commenting on behalf of GOSCO, CFO Michael Amoah said, “We are very pleased to have formed our joint venture with Lloyds Register; we see real opportunities in key aspects of the upstream value chain for joint ventures which bring together the operational experience of Ghanaian companies with the niche high quality skills of an international partner.”
