McDermott, Sinopec win $1.9-billion Uganda deal

KAMPALA, June 10, 2021 – A McDermott-Sinopec consortium has received a conditional letter of award for a USD 1.9-billion contract to provide EPCC services to Uganda’s Total-led Tilenga project.

The contract award is subject to approval from Total E&P Uganda’s other Tilenga partners, McDermott said on Wednesday. These include CNOOC Uganda and Uganda National Oil Company.

The Tilenga onshore oilfield development targets 200,000 bopd of production. It will consist of 31 well pads connected to a central processing facility via buried flowlines.

In March, Total had made a recommendation to the Petroleum Authority of Uganda in the consortium’s favour for the US-based company to obtain the EPCC contract for the 200,000-bopd CPF to be built on Lake Albert’s shore.
