Mubadala commences production in Thailand

Thailand

DUBAI, June 18, 2015 – UAE oil and gas operator Mubadala Petroleum announces that production at its Nong Yao oilfield, located in the Gulf of Thailand, commenced yesterday.

Production at the oilfield is expected to reach a peak rate of about 10,000 barrels of oil per day as more production wells at the field come online.

The company said in a statement that oil from field would be sold for local use in order to meet Thailand’s growing energy needs.

Nong Yao, which Mubadala Petroleum is operating together with Singaporean upstream operator KrisEnergy and Thailand’s Palang Sophon, is the company’s third operating oilfield in the country, along with Jasmine and Manora.

The Nong Yao field is located in the G11/48 concession, approximately 165 kilometers offshore Thailand in a water depth of around 75 metres.

Mubadala Petroleum’s gross production in Thailand will reach around 40,000 barrels of oil per day during the second half of 2015, more than double the rate from 2014, making the company Thailand’s second largest producer of black oil, the company said in a statement.
