Nigeria crude exports up, gas flaring down

In Q2, exports were up 53.7% year-on-year and up 4.2% since Q1, Vanguard reported, citing data by the National Bureau of Statistics.
In a separate report on Monday, Vanguard cited figures of the Nigeria Gas Association as showing that gas flaring had dropped 65% over the past decade.
“Nigeria has made substantial progress in gas flare reduction, as we have reduced flaring from [56.6 mcm/2 bcf] per day 10 years ago to [19.8 mcm/700 mcf] per day,” said Dada Thomos, the association’s president, cited by the daily. “Even, [19.8 mcm/700 mcf] is too much as that could generate 3,000 megawatts of power and we are flaring such on daily basis.”
