Positive flow test at Suriname discovery

APA Corporation has hit positive results from a flow test at the Krabdagu-1 exploration well on offshore Block 58 in Suriname, the Houston-based E&P company announced on Tuesday.

Tests performed at the Upper Campanian and Lower Campanian levels showed oil-in-place of around 80 million-100 million barrels.

Appraisal drilling will be necessary to confirm additional resources, including another high-quality interval found in the Upper Campanian stage.

The company is currently utilising the Maersk Valiant drillship on the Dikkop exploration well in Block 58 following the find. The vessel is expected to continue its exploration and appraisal of the company’s asset.

The discovery is one of several found in the central area of the block since a breakthrough discovery in January 2020.

Block 58 is a 50:50 venture by APA Corporation and TotalEnergies.
